In April I had a few challenges that prevented me from posting and basically that also impaired my school work during the most critical time of the semester- FINALS! The challenge was basically my Mac computer. It crashed. I had planned on purchasing a new one in fall this year because it was currently a 2008 and I knew it was time to upgrade. Unfortunately, my computer couldn’t hang on.
I had spilled approximately a tablespoon of coffee on my keyboard while grading some papers and poof! Black screen. No power. I panicked and immediately turned my Mac upside down to hope no liquid was inside. I vacuumed the keyboard after and waited 24 hours like most sites I read said to do if this happens. After a day I plugged my power cord in and I get the green light but still no screen.
I took it to my trusty Mac repair guys only to find that the mother board had been deeply corroded due to the age of the computer. My heart sank. All three of my class modules from the college I teach at were on there and I hadn’t saved them to a hard drive yet. I was preparing to end my semester in a week with my finals which were on the Mac.
I’m sure by my look of defeat and stunned reaction my Mac repairman who Ive worked with for the last year felt badly. When I explained my dilemma of desperately needing my files for finals and some of my student work that was sent to me that needed to be graded, being a former adjunct at the same college he emphasized with me.
He agreed to find me a used computer to rebuild for less than $500 if I agreed to the price. I resoundly agreed and he had a rebuilt Mac to me for $400 in less than a week. I was amazed how fast he was able to rebuild a new Mac. The Mac seems new to be because of the lighted keyboard which I didn’t have before.
It’s taken a bit to readjust and move some files around and relocate some but I’m back on track finally. Some other challenged occurred on top of the big computer crash but the main issue of having technical difficulties I think has surpassed me.
Summer semester is over and I have time now to get back to blogging and sharing many decor and lifestyle ideas!
